The eyepatch is disposable and inexpensive as it requires no other cleaning products for its use. Sold in rolls of 250 or 500 patches.
The eye patch is simple to apply to a patient and just as simple to remove. Easy on, easy off. Throw away.
After encountering the issues commonly associated with pirate patches or reusable plastic paddles, used for occluding a patient’s eye during monocular eye examinations, Barbara Masket decided to overcome them with a sustainable solution: the MASK-it Eye Patch. It may also be used during visual acuity testing, laser vision correction, as well as for light-adjustable lens treatment.
The MASK-it Eye Patch is both disposable and adjustable. With two adhesive areas and a one-sided pre-slit, it allows technicians to create a cone of various depths, thereby giving the room necessary for long lashes.
The MASK-it Eye Patch was conceived by Barbara Masket, the senior office administrator in Dr. Samuel Masket’s Advanced Vision Care office. Before managing her husband’s practice, Barbara was a successful architect and designer in the Los Angeles area. This background informed her design choices when conceptualizing the Mask-it Eye Patch. Learn more about what led her to create this simple-to-use monocular device.
Gently peel the patch from the back, starting from the smaller end of the patch.
Gently separate at the pre-cut section of the patch.
Create a very shallow conical shape, over-lapping the adhesive areas (as if you were going to make a shallow dunce cap).
Apply to the patient on an angle so that the smaller section is in line with the eyebrows and above the nose and the larger section is near the cheekbone, below the eye.
